After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9, 10 ESV)
I am always in amazement of how this image will look like in Heaven one day. Every people group dressed in their costumes, speaking their own language and tongue praising God. I imagine the people groups that we know about and still exist. But coming out of the Hopi Indian Reservation, and seeing a chart that shows many of the tribal people groups that had already extinct. I began to wonder, if we continue to conform people to a certain mould, that they need to speak English, need to be educated, need to do this and that that are socially acceptable to us, need to discard their cultures because we think their practices are wrong. Then I think we won’t get to see that scene of ‘multitudes coming from every nation, tribe and tongue’.
